About Me

Thank you!

If you are reading this, thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me.

Early Life / Bio

I was born on February 11, 1986 in Raleigh, North Carolina. I was raised in the Raleigh area. My parents are both from North Carolina and attended college at North Carolina State University together. My father studied Electrical Engineering and my mother studied Medical Technology.

My interest in programming started when I was fairly young. I think mostly from my dad showing me how to load BASIC code off cassette tapes and allowing me to disassemble all the old electronics. Later on building levels for online games and messing with prank apps. My dad brought home a Visual Basic guide from his work office and I was hooked. I went on to take Microsoft Access And Visual Basic courses in High School.

Family

I am happily married to my wife, Ashley Byrd. Ashley is a Music Major turned Product Manager. Our small family consists of us and our French Bulldog, Sunny.

Education

I graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelors degree in Computer Science.

Specific Framework Experience

Angular / AngularJS

I worked on providing business intelligence via Dude Solution's BI solution, Dude Intelligence. I developed with AngularJS with .NET and Node API's. I created fully unit-tested and complex AngularJS components with supporting e2e tests. Jasmine and Karma were used for testing.

RetroMatic is an Angular web app I created to help developers have sprint retrospectives. The project is open source, so it is free for anyone to use. It utilizes Firebase for the authentication and storage. For styling it utilizes Angular Material and Angular Flex-Layout.

Vue

At Dude Solutions, I created a new Vue application for Work Order and Asset Management. The project used Vue CLI 3, vuetify, ag-grid-enterprise, axios, and the other standard Vue libraries vue-router, vuex, and webpack 4. I implemented web performance improvements with code-splitting and I used webpack bundle analyzer and Chrome lighthouse tools to track performance.

This portfolio site also uses Vue and was created using VuePress.

React

At Citrix, I assisted with converting our internal Sales CRM to React. I've worked with React using reach-router, parceljs, and jest. Here is a simple React app I created to search for GitHub users via their public API.
